DECEMBER
| Drumming
for the Blues - Drumming
has been used as a healing technique for thousands of years
and in many communities doctor and drummer were one and
the same. According to Brett Schlesinger, expert drummer
and founder of interactive drumming company, The Drum Cafe
it gives instant physical and mental stress relief. The
Drum Cafe has launched corporate drumming workshops specifically
designed to help workers defend themselves from stress.
Sessions last between forty and sixty minutes and are designed
for groups of ten upwards. |
NOVEMBER
| Drum
up a little team in the workplace - Baba
is brilliant, raising the energy levels to fever pitch then
notching them back down again. The beat courses through
our bodies like a collective heartbeat. When we've got a
handle on our bass line Baba lays a rhythm over the top.
We provide the metronome; his is the agile melody turning
sound into song. When he stops, we bask, taking absurd pride
in our joint effort. While we're drumming, the corporate
benefit of the session takes a back seat. The day is about
the noise and adrenaline, but afterwards there will be a
thorough debriefing back at base about how it bonded colleagues
and cemented teams. |
